On the third day of Valentines, my true love gave to me… an unexpected welcome home.
Usually when Brian comes in the door I am either running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to get dinner done (if he’s on day shift) or sound asleep (if he’s on night shift). If I’m awake, I always call out a hello and hug or kiss him once I can climb over the mountain of kids, dogs, and clutter, but it’s usually rushed and onto the next to-do item, question, or reprimand to the kids.
Today, let’s greet our husbands differently than normal. I once read a marriage tip that said, “Greet your husband one step earlier than you usually do.” So, if you usually greet him when he comes and finds you in the house, meet him instead at the door. If you usually say hi near the front door, meet him outside as he pulls up. Give him your full attention – a real embrace and a kiss that is more than a peck. Say hello, ask how his day was, and make real eye contact.
